Can adding photos to your Google Business Profile improve your local visibility?

Learn why regularly uploading quality photos—and spacing them out over time—can help keep your profile active and engaging.

Should your HOA management company be adding more photos to its Google Business Profile?

In this quick video, John Leutermann, President of Big Rock Marketing, explains why regularly updating your Google Business Profile with new photos can support your local marketing efforts.

Rather than uploading dozens of photos all at once, consider adding a few quality images each month to keep your profile fresh.

Ideas for photos include:

• Your office building
• Office interior
• Team members
• Community events (with permission)
• Neighborhood amenities
• Community entrances and clubhouses (with permission)
• Company-sponsored events

It’s also important to review your profile monthly to check for Google’s automatic updates and monitor the Performance section to see how people are finding and interacting with your business.

Keeping your profile current with accurate information and fresh photos helps present a professional image and gives prospective HOA board members confidence in your company.

Keep Your Google Business Profile Active with Regular Updates

Optimizing your Google Business Profile isn’t a one-time task. Google regularly updates profiles automatically, so it’s important to review your profile at least once a month to ensure all of your information remains accurate.

During your monthly review, verify that Google hasn’t added incorrect services or made other changes to your profile without your knowledge. Keeping your listing clean and up to date helps maintain your visibility in local search results.

Another simple but effective strategy is adding new photos on a regular basis.

Recent studies have shown that regularly uploading photos can positively influence your profile’s visibility in Google Search and Google Maps. An active profile signals to Google that your business is current and engaged.

Many HOA management companies aren’t sure what types of photos to use, but there are plenty of opportunities to showcase your business, including:

  • Photos of your office or building
  • Team photos
  • Community events (with permission)
  • Community amenities or common areas
  • Company meetings or volunteer activities
  • Awards, certifications, or special recognitions

Rather than uploading a large number of photos all at once, spread them out over time. For example, if you have several great photos from a community event, upload a few each month instead of posting them all on the same day. This creates a steady stream of fresh content and keeps your profile active.

Finally, make it a habit to review the Performance section of your Google Business Profile. Google provides valuable insights into how people are interacting with your listing, including profile views, website clicks, phone calls, and direction requests.

Monitoring these metrics each month allows you to measure the effectiveness of your optimization efforts and identify opportunities to continue improving your local search visibility.
